Marlin, Texas

Marlin is the county seat of Falls County. It was established in 1834 by Sterling Clack Robertson and named after John Marlin, a pioneer patriot.

Henry and John Mauer
c. 1870

Henry and John Mauer were brothers from Hesse Darmstadt. They emigrated to the United States via Louisiana. John, the oldest, married Charlotte in Louisiana and had their first child in 1867. By 1870, both families were living in the same house in Marlin. Both were listed as beer brewers.They moved to Fredericksburg and opened a brewery there in 1875.
